The visit of Danish Soroptimists-International

From October 3 to 8 a group of our sisters' Soroptimists-International "from Denmark visited Chernihiv. They are connected by an old great friendship with "Aratta" and visited Ukraine several times, helped "Aratta" and had several joint projects:

• consultations on Strategic development of "Aratta" "Step by Step".

• sponsorship in helping a student to get education.

• the visit of a group of the children from Aratta poor families to Denmark.

• training programs for employees and volunteers of "Aratta".

• opening of a Charity Saloon in "Aratta".

But this time the visit was special and solemn. On October 6 the Opening Ceremony of the "Soroptimists-International" Club was held in Chernihiv. This idea has matured for almost two years after the visit to Denmark of head of the regional organization "Union of Women of Ukraine" - Dorogzhina Iryna and of director of the charity "Aratta" - Filatova Victoria. Our sisters from Danish club came to the ceremony as they are Godmothers of our Chernigov Club. Also Maria-Luisa Frosio - Chairperson of the Committee Soroptimists-International Europe with her husband and two representatives from the Italian Club. The ceremony was lead by Ursula Suri - head of the Swiss Union. All the participants sang Soroptimists-International Symphony, which is a hymn of the Soroptimists-International worldwide.

Ukrainian clubs were represented by the Clubs from Dnipropetrovsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv and Kyiv. Intelligent, caring and active women from Chernihiv gathered together, they passed certain registration procedures in the European Federation and coordinated with the Worlds Committee of the organization.

There are five projects chosen for the future activities:

• book-crossing,

• theatrical studio Dyvosad with young people with special needs,

• charitable saloon

• support of a talented artist Ananko Natalia,

• support of an old lady, Olha Markovna, 102 years old.
